The site's primary author swears that over the years, he's seen at least 3 comments across the interwebs expressing frustration with the lack of a Canadian specific calculator. So, finally - thought why not he tackle the problem. Besides, how would he ever know if he could actually pull it off. Turns out building this calculator is a pretty fun way to contribute something to the Canadian CoastFI(RE) community.
Did a number of years (waaay too many) in math departments at some US and Canadian campuses as a student and instructor, ... and even managed to walk away with a bachelors and 2 masters degrees :)
At a professor’s urging, worked on an applied math & simulation project that set off an unexpected fascination and love for using advanced algebra, data and code to model and solve real world problems.
Spent a few years working in London, CA and Toronto in data biased roles including statistical programming and analytics at a number of organizations.
These include a research institute, financial services consulting, retail analytics and a global tech company.
Along the way have sporadically engaged in various shorter term engagements at Ontario colleges including
teaching (data analysis and intro coding courses), volunteering as a research data analyst, and also taking some courses.
